Subject: Robert Merrill version!
I was looking everywhere for a Robert Merrill version of the Star Spangled Banner! Thank you for the tip. I hadn't known to look under his "stage name" Merrill Miller. Great version.

Subject: Merrill Miller
I don't see this singer as weak at all. This is the only example I've ever heard of where Metropolitan Opera (and New York Yankees) Star, Robert Merrill is billed as Merrill Miller. His name in fact was Morris (aka Moishe) Mandelbaum. He is now 86 years old and lives in New York.

Subject: Part Deux
Of the two SSB songs on this site, this is the weaker one. Both of singer and of imagery. In this one, they decided to represent every line with an image (aka dawn's bright light, we see a sun rise, the rocket's red glare, we see fireworks).. Although I don't think they exactly knew what a 'rampart' was. It's not bad, I just prefer version 1 better.
